Open call: Editorial Board of the journal Craniomaxillofacial Trauma & Reconstruction (CMTR)

Term: July 1, 2024–June 30, 2027 (with the option of re-selection)

The CMTR journal publishes primary and review articles covering all aspects of surgery of the head, face, and jaw. Craniomaxillofacial Trauma and Reconstruction will be of interest to specialists working in ophthalmology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, otolaryngology, plastic and reconstructive surgery, dentistry, facial plastic surgery, and trauma surgery.

In 2023, the journal received its first impact factor of 0.9. It will become a fully Open Access Journal as of January 1, 2025.

To support the ongoing developments, the CMTR Editors-in-Chief are building up a new Editorial board and are herewith calling for volunteers to join the journal’s Editorial Board.

Role and responsibilities:

  • Promote the journal to publish in, encourage new and established authors to submit original articles and reviews, attract new and established authors and article submissions
  • Assign manuscript submissions to reviewers and to ensure timely follow-up on the reviews needed
  • Provide the Editors-in-Chief your recommended decision on the reviewed manuscripts (accept, reject, minor revision, major revision, etc.)
  • Offer expertise in their area of expertise
  • Offer feedback to reviewers when required and ensure that any feedback to authors is constructive
  • Propose reliable expert reviewers
  • Review submitted manuscripts
  • Work with the Editors-in-Chiefs to ensure ongoing development of the journal
  • Identify topics for Special Issues of the journal or recommend conferences to promote the journal, which they might also help to organize and/or guest edit any subsequent publications
  • Join regular online face-to-face communication forums (e.g. bi-annual Zoom meetings)
  • Comply with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)

Requirements:

  • Proven record of expertise and experience in any of the following topics: ophthalmology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, otolaryngology, plastic and reconstructive surgery, dentistry, facial plastic surgery, and trauma surgery.
  • Leadership position in any of the above-mentioned specific fields with a proven international presence
  • Publication record of several articles and /or books (usually in or related to their specialist field)
  • Must already have a wide network of CMF surgeons
  • Being a reviewer for an international peer reviewed journal

Being a journal editor is a position of esteem in scholarly publishing and considered evidence of a developing academic profile.
